Jun 13, 2018
Phd candidate Amaia Salvador and Professors Xavier Giró and Ferran Marqués have won the Best Post Award at the ACM International Conference on Multimedia Retrieval (ICMR) hold between June 6-9 in New York City. Their paper "Bags of Local Convolutional Features for Scalable Instance Search" is the result of a collaboration with Eva Mohedano, Kevin McGuinness and Professor Noel O'Connor from Insight Center for Data Analytics - Dublin City University. The work proposes a technique to find objects in large collection of images by just providing a few examples of it. The solution is based on state-of-the-art deep learning techniques, which have revolutionized the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence during the last few years. The authors are among the instructors of the first edition of the "Deep Learning for Computer Vision" course that UPC TelecomBCN school organizes this Summer (http://telecombcn.deeplearning.barcelona).
